Dakota Johnson & Olivia Colman Spotted Filming Movie on Greek Island

Actress Dakota Johnson on the red carpet

When Hollywood actors visit tiny Greek islands, it’s hardly ever for leisure purposes, as hits like Mamma Mia have shown. So, when actress Dakota Johnson was spotted taking a walk around the beautiful Greek island of Spetses earlier this month, everyone was watching. Dakota is currently on location, shooting the upcoming film The Lost Daughter based on Elena Ferrante’s novel of the same name.

Dakota Johnson to Star Against Olivia Colman

Actress Olivia Colman
The Lost Daughter will follow the story of Olivia’s character, Leda, a divorcee and college professor, who becomes increasingly obsessed with Dakota’s character, Nina, a young mother, after her own children decide to move to Canada and live with their dad. Actress-director Maggie Gyllenhaal wrote the adaptation to the big screen, and it is said to focus on the different aspects of motherhood that aren’t often explored in cinema these days. Shooting began earlier in October with scenes including the picturesque beaches of the Greek island of Spetses.

The film will be actress Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut, and aside from Olivia Colman and Dakota Johnson, it will also star Normal People’s breakout star Paul Mescal and Chernobyl’s Jessie Buckley. In the book, Leda spends the summer in a beautiful Italian town by the seaside, but the movie will be filmed in Spetses, Greece. Other shooting locations are yet to be uncovered.

To explore the island on her day off unbothered by paparazzi, the Fifty Shades of Grey actress went low-key in a pair of large sunglasses, a baggy sweater, and a beige visor to keep things incognito.

There hasn’t been an official release date for The Lost Daughter yet, although it is expected to premiere some time next year. We last saw Dakota Johnson in The High Note, a comedy-drama that was a departure from her previous roles.
