The Scene Reenactment Was for a Live-streamed Table Read of the Movie Elf
Recently, Zooey Deschanel shared a clip in which she and Ferrell are reenacting an iconic scene from the film: the shower scene. In the movie, Buddy wanders into an employee locker room after hearing Jovie singing a classic Christmas song in the shower. Ferrel’s character innocently sneaks into the room to admire her singing but starts singing along and blows his cover. Jovie shows her head through the shower curtain and screams when sees Buddy there. She tells him not to look at her and get out, so Buddy covers his eyes with his hands and starts his hilarious retreat, running into lockers.
The clip in which Ferrel and Deschanel sing the song from the shower scene was a snippet from a live stream with other celebrities. They were doing an online table read of Elf dubbed #ElfforGeorgia.
John Lithgow, Ken Jeong, and Many Others Appeared to Read for Actors Who Could Not Attend
While some of the rest of the cast of Elf was also present, not everyone managed to attend the table read. Fortunately, other celebrities joined in to fill the empty spots. People who appeared alongside Deschanel and Ferrell included Ken Jeong, John Lithgow, Danny Woodburn, Busy Philipps, Ed Helms, Jenna Ushkowitz, Bradley Whitford, Gaten Matarazzo, and Wanda Sykes.
In the post where Deschanel shared the snippet from the live stream on Instagram, she revealed that the event turned out to be a big success. Deschanel thanked everyone who joined the effort and was excited to share that they were able to reach the goal to raise over four hundred thousand dollars! She also wrote that she loved reuniting with the cast and sharing the experience with their special guests.
