When Lana Del Rey makes an announcement, the world listens — and for good reason. This is an artist who will not allow anyone to ruin her vision and the music industry is all the better for it.
It’s been two years since she released her last album Lust for Life, and we need more of her works. So on August 30, Lana will unleash a new album titled Norman F*cking Rockwell!.
You may not be familiar with Lana del Rey, but we argue it’s high time for you to embrace her creativity.
Lana Del Rey Has the Credentials to Justify the Hype
The 34-year-old singer of melancholic, tragic tunes isn’t new in the music business. As early as 2005, she had been creating tracks and her finding her distinct voice.
In 2011, Lana’s “Video Games” and “Blue Jeans” got positive traction on YouTube and earned her more fans. This was enough for Stranger Records to take notice and get her signed.
The former was such a good song that Lana Del Rey received two awards for it. She got the “Next Big Thing” and the “Best Contemporary Song” award from Q Awards and the Ivor Novello Awards, respectively.
Also, Lana won “Best Alternative Act” at the MTV Europe Music Awards and currently has four Grammy nominations under her belt.
In seven years, she’s made five amazing albums that are all worth listening from front to back. Each time, she’s able to create a glamorous yet somber story through her lyrics and instrumentations.
‘Norman F*cking Rockwell’: The New Era of Lana
The fact is that Lana Del Rey has yet to release a bad album. She knows what she’s good at — and she keeps on honing her songwriting and singing skills.
How Lana promotes her work is indicative of what we will hear. On August 1st, she released an album trailer on YouTube, which has so far raked 1.2 million views.
That trailer showed the many sides of Lana. She’s always had this mysterious vibe about her, but the video showed that she can have some fun as well.
Plus, the single for Normal F*cking Rockwell has been around for almost a year: “Mariners Apartment Complex” was released last September 13 — and it sounds amazing.
Jack Antonoff is a God-Tier Producer
Look, Lana Del Rey is already a fantastic singer and producer. But Norman F*cking Rockwell is a very exciting project because she worked with Jack Antonoff to produce the album.
Who’s Jack Antonoff? For one, the 35-year-old artist has his band called Bleachers. Second, he was part of Fun, the band who made the hits “We Are Young” and “Some Nights”.
Jack knows how music works and has achieved overnight success in the industry. But what’s important in this context is that he’s a master producer.
Apart from Lana Del Rey, he’s worked with the giants of pop music such as Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Troye Sivan.
He’s even worked with alt-pop icon Lorde and indie art-rock sensation St. Vincent. Thus, Jack can realize the distinct sound of an artist and form new tracks out of it.
With all these we know so far about the album, it should be clear now why the anticipation for Norman F*cking Rockwell is building with each passing day.
