Dune: Part Two Has Started Production and Released Its First Picture

After the recent Dune movie scored numerous Oscar wins, the anticipation for a Part Two has only been raised. The addition of Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and other casting news only increased the hype. Denis Villeneuve teased the film after hinting at different possibilities for the upcoming sequel. So far, there has been much silence about it, and fans had gotten the first good news as the film went into production with a celebration.

The Next Dune Movie Has Started Filming and the Cast Celebrated

It was announced that the next Dune would start filming this summer at the start of the year. When the day came and production started, the team went on Dune's Twitter account to document the start. The announcement was simple, with a few words and a clapboard. Villeneuve mentioned that there will be more flexibility with the story as more characters were introduced. The post was tagged with the name of key cast members like Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, Butler, and Javier Bardem, reaffirming the confirmed cast. Given how secretive the first shoot was, there is little doubt that it will be looser in the future.

Chalamet, Zendaya, and Bardem Are All Returning for Dune: Part Two

The Dune sequel will likely pick up where the first film left off when Paul Atreides sets to fulfill his father’s goal and bring peace to Arrakis. Chalamet, Zendaya, and Bardem will all reprise their roles from the first movie, while Pugh, Butler, and Walken will play Princess Irulan, Feyd-Rautha, and Emperor Shaddam IV. Léa Seydoux will play Margot, a Bene Gesserit sisterhood member, while Souheila Yacoub will become Fremen member Shishakli.

Considering that production is just starting for Dune: Part Two, it is expected to deliver no early than November 2023 after it moved its release date about a month forward. Denis Villeneuve, who is the director of the movie, is planning to return to the Kingdom of Jordan to shoot at the end of the year.
