They say a new hairstyle symbolizes the beginning of a new chapter in life. Whether this is true for a dog or not, one Redditor had a life-changing experience after taking home what she thought was her beloved German Shepherd, Emma, back from the groomer.

The Redditor Found Her Dog Acting Weird

“Physically, she was identical, but mentally she was not there,” the woman wrote. The dog owner took her German Shepherd across Newfoundland to a groomer salon, just to get a quick trim before the hot summer months.

However, when Emma got home, she became more aggressive. It took the Redditor and her family four months to realize that wasn’t Emma and she was swapped with another dog that looked just like Emma.

Emma is a well-trained and loving dog, and it was weird that she started biting her owner’s hand, ignoring people whom she knew and was acquainted with, and changing her entire routine with the family.

An Emergency Call, 4 Months Later

The Redditor’s mom got a call from the groomer, asking her to bring “Emma” to a meeting at her shop immediately. This is when the family started doing the math and realized what should have been obvious all these four months — the dog they took home, wasn’t Emma.

Another owner had complained that their dog Bear had been acting anxiously since their grooming session, which was the same day as Emma’s. Luckily, this mystery was solved, although it took a surprisingly long time, and what’s most important is that both Emma and Bear are with their original families now.

Long story short, if any dog owner finds their favorite furry friend acting strange, there is a really good chance that it got swapped somewhere, be it at the dog park, the groomer, or anywhere else.
